We are back in business, ladies and gentlemen. Today, I will solicit a bit of anonymous feedback, we will talk specifically about registration, Show & Tell, and time permitting, a bit about research. We have made it to the midpoint of the semester. If you did this, you can do ANYTHING!

I gave you feedback. You give me feedback. Feedback for everyone!
Reminders
Your Reflective Overview is due to my BB by 11:59 PM. The template for the assignment, a student sample, and the rubric are all included in the Blackboard Folder labelled Midterm Reflective Overview.
The Reflective Overview you are submitting for 0399 is the exact same document that you are submitting for Seminar.

Start, Stop, Go
Because I am not as fancy as Professor Mascorro, I don't know how to ask for anonymous feedback on the computer. Instead, we are going old school...
Take out a sheet of paper and spend 5-10 minutes responding to the following prompts. DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE PAPER. Anonymity is a good thing! :)
Start: What are a few things you would like for us to START doing in this class? Obviously there are limitations...but what types of activities would you be interested in pursuing.?
Stop: What is something that you would like for us to STOP doing? We cannot stop attending class. I know, it sounds appealing, but it is not an option.
Go: What would you like us to continue (GO) doing? Was there an activity or a project that you particularly enjoyed that you want us to do again?
Registration 101: You should be meeting with your advisors, clearing holds, and planning tentative schedules.
The schedule is live on SAIL.
Use Degree Planner to help fill out this tentative schedule that your advisor can look over.
This link can help you decide what Learning Community you wish to be a part of next semester.
You can see if you have any holds by going to SAIL > Student Records > Holds.
Many of you still have holds for the Think About It course. You must complete this course prior to registration, if the hold is on your account.
Show and Tell Chat
S&T #2 marked a major improvement from S&T #1. I think you are all to be commended for the progress you have made. As such, I have a proposal for you all. As grades currently stand, if I were to add your original S&T #1 grade to the grade book, everyone's average in the course would drop. Instead of this, I propose adding a new S&T topic to the list...
If you decide that you would rather not give the additional presentation, but keep the ST#1 grade, just send me an email, and I will be happy to accommodate you.
Research 101: Some light discussion regarding academic research...
Credible vs. Scholarly Sources
Credible implies that the text is well researched and relatively unbiased.
You can help determine the credibility of a source by using the The CRAAP Test.
You can find many different types of credible sources online, but it is important to review them to make sure you are getting legitimate information.
Scholarly implies that the article is for use within an academic field and has been peer-reviewed by other scholars with expertise on the subject.
One way of limiting your online search to scholarly sources only, is to select the "peer-reviewed" limiter on your document search in the library databased.
Let's test this on the Library Website...
Homework
Take a break! Other than submitting your Reflective Overview for me, I want you to take some time off.
Go check out Jazz Fest in downtown Corpus Christi. It is free to the public.
Crash on your couch, watch Netflix and drool.
Get together with friends and go see one of the new movies that are out for Halloween.
