Today we knock out our 4th Reading Quiz and move forward with finalizing IA#1. Our last step will be to work towards creating a sample essay questions based on the material we began outlining in class on Monday.

Portfolios, Reading Quizzes, IAs, oh my!

Reminders

  • Registration cometh.

  • Some of you still have not finished your Think About It activity. This Hold is now live on your SAIL accounts and will prevent you from registering or transferring. Take care of it ASAP.

  • IA #1 is due to my BB no later than Friday, October 12th at 11:59 PM.

  • You can always turn it in early :)

  • You are also turning in your entire Midterm Portfolio for Writing and Rhetoric at this time.

  • See Professor Walker if you have any concerns about completing this project on time.

  • We will move forward with discussion of Exam 2 and your Intersections Project next week.

  • Organize your notes/readings for history and keep digging into your research for your Intersections Project.

Today

  • Reading Quiz #4

  • Let's get started.

  • Understanding the Rubric

  • How can you use this?

  • Look for each "thing" that the rubric has asked for and highlight or underline it in your draft.

  • If you can't find one of the pieces, then you need to add it.

  • If you have large chunks of text that aren't underlined, then how do the "fit" in the overall assignment.

  • If you are reviewing your own document, I strongly suggest that you read the document aloud over a period of time.

  • When you read in your head, your brain auto-corrects all your mistakes, but by reading aloud, you are more likely to catch things like odd wording, grammar/word choice issues, etc.

  • WWWD? What would Wooster do?

  • Go ahead and return to your groups from Monday's activity.

  • If you weren't here, we will find you a home!

  • Review questions 1-3 that you answered in class.

  • What can you add to these questions?

  • Do you have all the lecture content linked in some way?

  • What readings could you connect to these questions?

  • Spend a few minutes summarizing those readings...just two or three sentences.

  • Now, use the Exam 1 review as a guide, attempt to create your very own essay question using Monday's questions 1-3 and the readings.

Homework

  • Answer your "new" essay question and be prepared to discuss on Monday.
