Today will consist primarily of Writing Workshop for your Midterm Portfolio. We will review the Portfolio breakdown, which is also available in my syllabus, and discuss how this work will be assessed. Once we have completed this, I will allow you to workshop for the remainder of class.

Pictured above: Not a valid excuse for an incomplete Portfolio.

Reminders

  • Both your GDD and Discovery Blogs are put on hold for this week as we move towards completing your Midterm Portfolio. You have all the materials, templates, etc that you need to complete this work.

  • Please sign up for a conference time with me.

  • These conferences are mandatory and are scheduled for Monday/Tuesday of next week.

  • Pick your time!

Today

  • What is your Midterm Portfolio?

  • A collection of all the work that you have completed over the first half of the semester. This is worth 40% of your grade in my course.

  • This should be organized and made available to me in your Writing Folders via. Google .docs.

  • What is in your Portfolio?

  • Reflective Overview 25% (Complete, polished work.)

  • Discovery Blogs 30% (Complete, polished)

  • Research Proposal 15% (Complete w/ room for growth.)

  • Proof of Life (30%)

- Google Doc Dialogues

- Reflective activities

- Daily Work

- Miscellaneous assignments

  • How will this be assessed?

  • Check out this glorious rubric.

  • Not one person in this room has a complete Portfolio. You will spend the remainder of today's class organizing, drafting, revising, and generally moving towards completing this project.

Homework

  • You guessed it...work on your Portfolio. Pay special attention to your RO and your Research Proposal.

  • Remember, many of the daily writings that you have completed can help you with the creation of these documents. Work smart!

  • Check out the sample Reflective Overviews that I have included on Blackboard. These are student generated documents and as such are not "perfect."
