Good morning, everyone. Let's begin with some Portfolio Practice! In addition, we will discuss the final assignment sequence that will be included in your Midterm Portfolio. To that end, we are going to spend a bit of time brainstorming areas of interest for you. A busy day for writing!

Pictured above: Definitely part of the researching process...
Reminder
Your Midterm Portfolios are due in roughly three weeks. This means, you need to be revising and editing your existing Discovery Blogs and GDDs, while also staying up to date with your current work.
You already have your Reflective Overview Description and Template. Remember that this act of metacognitive writing will take time, focus, and organization. Don't put it off!
Today, I will provide you with the formal description of your Intersections and Genres Project for the second half of the semester.
You will begin working on a Research Proposal for this project.
The Research Proposal will be submitted with your Midterm Portfolio.
Today
Portfolio Practice #2 (20 Minutes)
Process
Pick one Learning Outcome from our syllabus.
Explain the Learning Outcome in your own words.
Pick a couple of pieces of evidence (work) you have done for Comp/History/any other class. (You will need to link this evidence into your actual Google .doc, so make sure you have a digital copy of whatever you want to reference.)
How does it show that you have worked towards this outcome?
Pick one Key Term from the Course Information page.
How does the Key Term support the outcome and piece of evidence you picked?
How does this explanation connect to a reading from NWWK and the "Framework for Information Literacy"?
Connect to specific areas in the text(s) and use textual evidence.
Genres and Intersections Description
This is the assignment that you will be completing during the second half of the semester. You must understand this assignment before you can complete your Research Proposal.
Please read/review/question this assignment (located on BB), and then review the template for your Research Proposal.
Let's brainstorm.
Go ahead and open a word document and start narrowing down your areas of interest. At the end of this document, I would like to see one or two areas that you could pursue as part of your research process.
Try responding to these questions:
What did you research? Why did you choose this topic?
What about your research is interesting/ what’s going to draw in your audience?
What have you found in your research so far? Do you have any examples that your audience might understand, and perhaps better connect to?
How can you connect this information to your audience?
Homework
You now have all available assignment descriptions and material necessary in order to complete your Midterm Portfolio. You must work on drafting these OUTSIDE OF CLASS, if you wish to successfully complete this process.
