Today we are going to revisit our discussion of Beyonce. It sounds like some of you have some things to say, so I'm gonna let you finish. We will also spend a bit of time talking about the readings and then transition to your Discovery Blogs.

Pictured above: Some of you trying to catch up on your GDDs and Discovery Blogs.
Reminders
Your GDDs are due on Friday every week. This means your second round of links should be posted tomorrow.
Your Discovery Blogs are due every Sunday. This means you still have a few days, but we all know how quickly those days will pass.
Don't forget about the things that are happening on campus! Hispanic Heritage Month is kicking off today. Check out the calendar for the events and descriptions.
I kind of want to go to the Alebrije con ICA, but don't judge me!
Today
Get in(formation)
So...in order to round out the brief conversation we tried to have at the end of Tuesday's class, I am going to ask you to spend some time writing your responses to the original questions.
Remember, we aren't just ranting about Beyonce are talking about conspiracy theories, but having a discussion applying our readings to a real-life example.
These are some of our original questions. Do you best to respond to both Part 1 and 2.
Part 1: What what situation (audience? music genre?) do we most commonly associate Beyonce? Would you argue that she is or is not an authority in this space?
How did she create or establish this authority?
Part 2: Formation (excerpt from Video Album)
In what ways did Beyonce attempt to establish herself as an authority in this video? Consider not just the lyrics/music but the imagery, too.
Was she successful?
How was she challenged? (maybe do a quick Google search...)
Reading Chat
Create a brief summary or blurb for each group. This should be a tight explanation of the materials. Don't treat this as a list or series of bullet points.
If you are not certain about word meaning, look things up. This is how you learn.
Group 1: NWWK Para. 1-3
Group 2: NWWK Para. 4 and 5
Group 3: NWWK Para. 6-9
Group 4: Framework: Top until end of first paragraph.
Group 5: Framework: Review the Knowledge Practices
Discovery Blog #1
Go ahead and open up your DB #1 entry.
Review it cold.
What do you see?
Did you catch any minor errors that you didn't notice before?
Are there any formatting choices you might change?
Now, I want you to use the Checklist that I am providing to review your blog.
Please put your name on it and try to fill it out accurately.
The checklist only asks about information for a single source, but you can easily revise it to reference multiple sources.
For example: If you referenced three sources, did you include three permalinks?
I would encourage you to take a photo of this before you turn it in.
